The answer is very simple; with smaller field CT’s you often crop out information that you may really need, so you reposition the patient and take a new scan, exposing them to twice the radiation. With large field CT’s, you can comfortably position the patient anywhere near the vicinity of the field of view and capture everything you need.
We highly recommend that your field of view include all of he maxillary sinus, the condyles, the vertebrea, the nasal passages and of course, all the root tips in both arches
